The Deertrack archery range was formed in 1948 by Mrs.
Abby Roberts, the eldest child of John M. Longyear. Mrs. Roberts had the
course professionally designed for her daughter Mary who was actively
involved in archery at the time. Due to the foresight of Mrs. Roberts and
her family, many generations of Marquette area archers have been able to
enjoy a “world class” range. The club holds the lease to the land
indefinitely as long as it is operated as an archery range. Since inception
the club has carried on a mission of promoting the enjoyment of archery and
a tradition of outdoor sportsmanship. Club membership has included over 150
families and individuals of all ages, shooting styles, and skill levels. The
club is a non-profit volunteer community service organization. Operating
expenses are funded by membership fees and proceeds from club sponsored
shoots.
