EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING

April 22, 2008

Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Mark Hirvonen, Steve Sanderson, John Driver, Mike Koskey, Jay Roy, Travis DePrey.   

ABSENT: Louie Krolikowski, , Kermit Parsons and Sue Payant, Tim Glover.

MINUTES: The minutes of the 1/29/2008 Board Meeting were reviewed

TREASURERS REPORT:   1/29/08 Balance    $8808.00

                                               4/17/08 Balance   $8335.92

        2008 Memberships are 40 individual and 7 Family memberships.

OLD BUSINESS:

-President’s Report:  Rescheduled workbees to May 3, May 24, discussed the success of the IBEP program (50 attendees) and Travis discussed how the name mentions on Adam Carpenters Outdoor show increased website visits by 100%. We picked up at least 4 new members also. We need a representative to attend a DNR Meeting on May 3, 2008 1 pm at NMU to represent Deertracks interests. No one present would be available. The DNR will also be hosting the BOW event at Bay Cliff on May 30, 31, June 1 and need instructors. This will be passed on to Shelly and Randall at Straight Line to coordinate with the Wildcat Archery Club. Mailing will go out in May for membership renewal (Sue will hopefully print labels and mail them out.

This year the lawn maintenance will be handled by the committees. Mark has a Mower (Riding) that he will donate. Month 1 (June) Tournament committee MK, MH, JD will handle. Month 2 (July) 3D Committee SS, JR, TG. Month 3 (August) Communications Committee SP, TD, KP will finish up.

Still looking for the old Deertrack files, Steve S. thinks he can get in touch with previous secretary Jane Zorza to ask if she has any idea where they are. 2009 Annual meeting will be in March 2009, no need to be this year.   

-Range Captain’s Report:

            No report.

-Communications/Internet Chairmans Report: Travis filled us all in on his progress with the website and how it is being used. He has the on-line membership activated and wants the Board to test it for him. Steve S. asked about a web forum and Travis agreed to look into having one on the site. All Board members are asked to do their dues renewal online and to look at the website and help Travis with feedback, photos , info worth posting.

-UPFAA Chairman Report:

            Mike K. reported that we received the banner from the UPFAA from our 2 year

            Sponsorship of the indoor sectional ($150). The Outdoor UPFAA shoot is still

            Scheduled for May 31, 2008 at Deertrack and many good comments were shared

            in support of  the Marquette function. Wildcat Archers will be helping with the

            Tournament and manning the concession stand as a fundraiser for their group/

-Tournament Chairman Report:

            No report

- 3D Chairman Report:

Steve S. led a discussion about this course.  This could be a club focus since 90% of the membership seems to come to Deertrack to use this course.  A plan will be drawn up with Jay Roys help as to what we want to do with it. They will to meet at the range as soon as possible and start working on it. The 3D committee will also coordinate the regravel of the road with our Range Captain.

NEW BUSINESS:

-SUPERIORLAND TRADITIONAL RENDEZVOUS

            Will be held July 19,20 2008 and we as a board will work with Steve&Donna  Turay, Mike Magel and crew to make this event a sucesss. Please contact them at 485-5480 or 228-4797 to assist.

- IBEP Training

            On June 14, 2008 the next  International Bowhunter Education Program training will be held. Details will be sent to everyone in late May to put on the web.

- Budget Request Discussion: based on the minutes from last meeting we agreed to use up to $6,000.00

            Range Captain Projects - $2,000.00

            3D Expenses - $1500.00

            Membership/Communications/Internet - $1000.00

- Recreation Shows

The County Fair was discussed and Mark will coordinate with UP Whitetails to make it happen.
