MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING: Motion to approve minutes by John D., second by
Ken D., Passed unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS: Treasurer John D., did a short presentation on the history of
Deertrack Bowhunters Range and reported that 2006 current membership levels are
24 active with 4 being family memberships.
*Presidents Report: President Tim Glover did a presentation of 2005 in
review. There was considerable progress made at the range i.e. a massive clean
up with 5 huge trailers full sent to the landfill, 15 new 3D targets, new bow
hangers, 2 bridges rebuilt, membership doubled from 2004, STS Consultants will
be GPS mapping the range, Adopt-a-target and donations exceeded expectations.
For 2006 there will be 2 more bridges rebuilt, a sponsor recognition plaque,
rule postings on bulletin board, revitalized league night, NFAA re-sanctioning
of range for a possible tournament in 2007, a possible IBEP training session,
revamping of the broadhead pits, and an increase in membership. A major
milestone happened as there were 32 current and prospective members at this
meeting. The renewed Deertrack Club is on the right course!
*Membership Committee: Chairman Bart reports that TV-6 is still interested in
doing a story on the club and noted that the Mining Journal's Outdoor Editor
Dave Schneider had a great column regarding the club in the March 26 Outdoors
section. The 2006 Committee will consist of Bart, Mark Fleury, Vern Hansen, Jay
Roy, and Brandon Bastar.
Any members wishing to assist with the membership effort should contact Bart
at 420 N. Third St. or call 361-2200.
*Range Committee:Adopt a target was discussed, and a report was handed out by
Chairman Louie outlining the progress made in 2005 as mentioned in Presidents
Report. A special broadhead pit committee of John Driver, Ken Davenport, Steve
Paquet, and Mike Magel was formed to spearhead the Pit renewal project. A
workbee is scheduled for May 6, 2006 and all members are reminded to bring
rakes, shovels, spare treated lumber, gloves, AND A NEW MEMBER, etc. The club
will supply snacks and Beverages. Mike Koskey will check with the UPFAA and NFAA
regarding Range Standards so we are in compliance with requirements for
registered Shoots.
*Secretary's Report: Mark H. reported that a thorough search of past Deer
track membership records came up with a total mailing of 189 possible names.
Obviously the $138 spent on the mailing was worth it based on the record
attendance at this meeting, the email reminders from President Tim also deserve
a lot of credit. A website is necessary to propel Deertrack's continued success
and a committee of Erik Booth, Mark Hirvonen, Greg Hanson, and Sue Payant will
research this and other communication needs for the future.
Mark also commented that there are no records prior to 1989, as well as
Deertrack By-laws or any other corporate documents in the files on hand. If any
members have any information on who, or where the club can find these vital and
historical archives please contact Mark at 249-1578 or hirv5@aol.com as soon as
possible.
NEW BUSINESS: The next meeting will be scheduled at the Work Bee on May 6TH
at 9am at the Outdoor Range on Vandenboom Road.
